/Bio

Chiara Pecchioli is a Set Designer and Prop Maker based in North London (for now, and who knows in the future?).

Design skills and experience extend to Set Design, Scenic Art, Props, Costume Design and Illustration.

After two years at the University of Pisa, (cinema, music and theatre courses) she attended the Academy of Fine Arts, achieving an Academic Degree Level 1 in Scenography in 2011. During her time at university she worked on several productions, in order to develop her scenic skills further. Then she entered for two public examinations to win a place at the studio of the Florence Opera House. Success in these examinations meant that she completed two courses there; one for Scenic Artists and one for Prop Makers.

On several occasions she has also been lucky enough to work with the famous Italian director Aldo Tarabella. She has also taken the role of Stage Manager and Props and Costume Designer at the Fiesole Music School.

She believes in constantly challenging herself and she wants to acquire the skills, knowledge and understanding to allow her to succeed in this wonderful career. She moved to London in order to take advantage of the wide range of theatre opportunities the city affords. Since moving to London six months ago she has taken every opportunity available to her to gain more professional experience, including: three months volunteer work at the Arcola Theatre, working with the technical team; working with Salon: Collective, a company based at the Cockpit Theatre, where she acted as Set and Costume Designer for one of their productions.

Her passion for the theatre comes from the innumerable plays, musicals and operas she has seen in Italy and in London, a city she has visited throughout her life with her father. She is particularly interested in the kind of work that experiments with new materials; finding fresh and inventive ways to approach challenges and briefs. She is also well trained in classical techniques, which she learned with “maestro” Raffaele Del Savio and with Adnan Alzubadi, Set Designer and charge Scenic Artist of world renowned Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.

She also holds photography very close to her heart, using it to explore and capture the people and worlds that she encounters on her travels. She also enjoys photographing stage performances - the expressions and emotions of the actors and dancers.

When she is not working, she paints for pleasure and enjoys running and travel around the world. She throws flags (a traditional Italian sport) and also is a committed Buddhist.
